Well, I know it seems that it is very hard and even impossible to do when it comes to reading books. We are distracted by things that are way more entertaining than books but have no benefits. But reading books have many benefits. First, you need to know what genre do like, what kind of books do you like.

Secondly, pick those books and start reading them. I would recommend three pages a day but if three is not much at least read only a page daily.

Thirdly select a time when to read books and in that particular time put a mile away from all items of distraction, whether you are distracted by a mobile phone or something else. Now lets come toward the benefits of reading books or in other words why one should read books.

Memory

Read books will increase your memory especially when you are reading books related to history, politics because they are complex. In order to understand them, you have to remember who is who? and who did what? Novels will also help here because to understand the story you need to remember the plot.

Vocabulary Increases

Well if you are reading books which are not in your native language then you will be exposed to many new words. Even if you are reading in your native language will go through many words, you have never read before. So in both cases your vocabulary increases.

Recover Your Brain

If you are addicted to something that is harmful then I would recommend you to read books its a great source to release dopamine(a hormone that is released one accomplish something) after that you will be satisfied and won't go back towards addiction.

Focus and Concentration

Reading is like a workout for the brain it helps you to become more focused on any task because it increases the attentional space of your brain. Research also found that it can reduce 68% of your stress. The less stressed you are, the more able to focus.

Knowledge

Knowledge can not be gain overnight but it is a long process. Reading books also give you knowledge but if read them consistently you will have a greater volume of knowledge. This knowledge will also help you with writing and elaborating.

Conclusion

All of the above-mentioned benefits are linked together and one should develop a habit of reading as it is a positive entertainment and good usage of time.
